At Pregnancy Care Center (PCC), we offer free, limited obstetrical ultrasounds performed by Registered Nurses, under the supervision of a local board-certified OB/GYN. Here’s what your ultrasound can tell you:
1. Where the pregnancy is located
Sometimes, a pregnancy develops outside the uterus, usually in a fallopian tube. This is called an ectopic pregnancy. Abortion pills or surgery will not end an ectopic pregnancy, and continued development can create a life-threatening emergency. An ultrasound can confirm whether your pregnancy is in the right place, and if it’s not, we will advise you to contact your doctor or go to the nearest emergency room for the medical care you need.
2. The viability of the pregnancy
Our nurses look for a heartbeat during your ultrasound. If it’s too early to detect one, we may schedule a follow-up ultrasound. In some cases, no heartbeat can mean a miscarriage, which needs medical oversight. If a miscarriage is suspected, we will advise you to contact your doctor or go to the nearest emergency room for the medical care you need.
3. How far along you are
Ultrasounds measure the age of your pregnancy to determine a due date. This can tell you what options are available to you, including which types of abortion procedures could apply. At PCC, we don’t provide or refer for abortion, but we do offer education on all pregnancy options, including abortion.
Why This Matters
Before making any decision, it’s important to have all the facts. An ultrasound gives you a clearer picture of what’s going on with your body and what options are available to you. Think of it as a way to gather the information you need before making your pregnancy choice.
We know this can be overwhelming, and the good news is you don’t have to figure it out alone. Our compassionate team of professionals is here to support you, answer your questions, and talk about your options in a safe, confidential environment.
If you’re ready, we’d love to meet with you. You can call or text us anytime at 417-877-0800 to schedule a free appointment. You’re not alone, because we’re here to help.
