Having an ultrasound before a medical or surgical abortion is crucial because it will confirm that the pregnancy is in the uterus and confirm there is a heartbeat. Once a positive test result is verified and you are six weeks from the last menstrual period (LMP), we can proceed with performing an ultrasound.
If the pregnancy is not viable or ectopic (outside of the uterus) it will require immediate medical attention. At this time there is no point in further decision-making.
According to the March of Dimes, approximately 15 – 25% of recognized pregnancies will end in miscarriage. More than 80% of miscarriages will occur within the first three months.
If you are considering abortion, we offer free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds and are happy to help better explain your options.
Although Springfield Pregnancy Care Center does not perform nor refer for abortions, we are here to provide support for you as you face a possible unplanned pregnancy. At our center, we offer help to those choosing to parent, placing for adoption and considering abortion. In the midst of what look like insurmountable obstacles and impossible situations, you have options and we can help. At PCC we are here to answer your questions, walk beside you during your entire pregnancy and for up to a year afterwards. All our services are free, professional, and confidential.
